I used to love fireworks. Until I got dogs that is. I have one wee lad that is so very frightened of fireworks that he comes close to having a heart attack any time they go off in Edinburgh. The festival is a nightmare, as is October/Nov/Dec/Jan. He has to be sedated a lot of the time. I was once out walking them in mid October when some lout thought it would be a great idea to set off three rockets that exploded over our heads. I tried to get to him because he started to have a hairy fit and one of the others tripped me up as it was reversing through my legs. I broke my nose and have scars as a reminder. So, I pity anyone with scardey wee dogs in USA. The 4th of July must be a bit of a trial. - jackie
