Greyfriars Church is very proud to have a successful Junior Choir under the leadership of our Directors of Music, Shena and Philip Fox. Around 15-20 young people meet every Sunday to rehearse new material for singing in worship, and elsewhere. In the past year they have sung at a National Interfaith Event organised by Ian Stewart the Church of Scotland's Interfaith worker, recorded a CD for distribution to all Church of Scotland ministers as part of the new 'Sing Out' programme, and sung at the launch of Sing Out at the 2009 General Assembly (you can watch the video by clicking here). Many of the pieces that the Junior Choir sing are specially written by Philip Fox and the congregation enjoy hearing the young people as they help to lead worship. The Junior Choir is open to children from Primary 1 upwards and is open to anyone to come along. They meet at 10am on a Sunday morning in the vestry of Greyfriars Church. |
